The award recognition of Lanner・s FW-8896 also marked that the company・s third consecutive winning of Taiwan Excellence.
The Taiwan Excellence is an award selection agency held by Ministry of Economic Affairs, to recognize, evaluate and promote products made in Taiwan with innovation, research and development values, quality and marketing capability. In 2016, Lanner・s FW-8896 prevailed among 1,188 participating products and won the Taiwan Excellence Award for the third consecutive time for Lanner. Lanner・s award-winning FW-8896 is a high-performance, modular network computing platform designed for SDN and NFV infrastructures. In a 2U rackmount chassis, FW-8896 can accommodate up to 8 swappable NIC modules and offer the highest port-density up to 64 GbE LAN ports. When installed with specific module design, FW-8896 can support up to 100Gbps fiber Ethernet.
The modular design of FW-8896 enables the expansion by PCIe-interfaced storage and/or network modules, for instance, NVMe storage modules for cloud applications.
FW-8896 is compatible with mainstream server-grade software applications including Intel DPDK and Wind River Titanium Server. The high-performance, high LAN-density, and high-scalability characteristics of FW-8896 make this networking platform the optimal solution for SDN/NFV data centers, next-generation firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, DPI/whitelisting, UTM, cloud computing and other security gateway deployments.
Lanner・s FAST Solutions
F.A.S.T. solutions are purpose-built modular kits developed for enhancing Lanner・s high-end network computing appliances, namely the FW-8896, the FW-8894 and the NCA-5510. These multi-functional modular kits come in the N2S, the N3S or the NCS2 form factor and aim to deliver flexibility, adaptability, scalability and transformability for all compatible appliances・ connectivity, storage and open compute capabilities.
F.A.S.T. connectivity series features support for 1G/10G/40G/100G Ethernet speeds in one or more modular slots; the modular kits can be retrofitted via either copper or fiber interface and are equipped with G3 copper and fiber bypass. Also featured are supports for TAP, POE functions, mini-PCIE slots for wifi/LTE connectivity and PCIE slots for other network options.
F.A.S.T. storage series, on the other hand, can be leveraged for creating different storage options such as PCIE storage and NVME storage. They support 3.5； HDD, 2.5； HDD/SSD and PCIE slots for RAID/HBA cards.
Last but not least. F.A.S.T. open compute series fulfills the open compute market hardware requirements, supporting not only PCIE x8/x16 FHHL cards but also network acceleration cards and flow processing cards.
The NCA-5210 & The NCA-4210: Even More Powerful with Intel Kaby Lake Upgrade
Today sees the retrofitting of Lanner・s NCA-5210 and NCA-4210 with IntelR・s 7th Gen Core i7/i5/i3 processors (codenamed Kaby Lake), making both of these enterprise network security platforms even more powerful and specs-sufficient for countering today・s advanced cyber threats.
In addition to the upgraded CPU and chipset, the 1U rackmount NCA-5210, can now be configured with 12x, 8x or 4x LAN ports, maximizing its Ethernet connectivity capability for network security, cloud computing and data centers.
Other outstanding features of the NCA-5210 include IntelR C236 PCH, four or two NIC module slots, up to 64GB of system memory via four 288-pin DIMM DDR4 (now at 2400MHz), dual 2.5； HDD/SSD drive bays, a PCI-E*4/8 FH/HL (by project) and four cooling fans.

The compact NCA-4210, on the other hand, retains its short-depth design and also offers three Ethernet connectivity options (see table below).
Other notwithstanding features of the NCA-4210 include IntelR H110/C236 PCH, two pairs of generation 3 LAN bypass, up to 32GB of system memory via two 288-pin DIMM DDR4 (now at 2400MHz), two USB 3.0 ports, dual 2.5； HDD/SSD drive bays, a PCI-E*8 FH/HL (by project) and three cooling fans.
All in all, both of these high-performance platforms now deliver greatly enhanced processing power and significantly higher throughputs for highly advanced threat prevention services such as IPS, IDS, DPI, and ADP.
Today sees the launch of the N2S-RRC01, the first F.A.S.T. solution from the connectivity series. It comes in Lanner・s double width N2S form factor and is built with Intel RRC FM10420 chipset (codenamed Red Rock Canyon).
The IntelR Ethernet Multi-host Controller FM10000 family is designed for high-density rack scale server platforms running high-performance communications infrastructure applications that require advanced DPDK acceleration enhancements to improve server network performance while freeing up CPU utilization.
The N2S-RRC01・s most notwithstanding feature is its support for 2x 100G Ethernet ports (QSFB28), delivering socket direct, multi-host performance and lighting speed for almost all networking applications.
Also featured are dual Gen3 PCIe x8 goldenfingers and dual Link/Act LED (per Ethernet port).
The N2S-RRC01 is compatible with the FW-8896, the FW-8894 and the NCA-5510.
