BlackBerry has unveiled a cybersecurity software that aims to identify vulnerabilities in programs within self-driving cars.

Dubbed BlackBerry Jarvis, the application is first available for automakers and may later expand to the healthcare and industrial automation industries.

Automakers will have online access to Jarvis and will be able to scan files at every stage of software development, plus it will be offered as a pay-as-you-go service. BlackBerry has already tested the software with Tata Motors' Jaguar Land Rover unit, where the feedback was that the software reduced the time required to access code from 30 days to seven minutes.

BlackBerry is already involved with self-driving software and it has announced plans to partner with auto supplier Delphi Automotive and this month it signed a deal with Chinese internet search firm Baidu Inc. to develop self-driving vehicle technology.
